NCN KIDS

Purpose:

The Northern California and Nevada Assemblies of God Children's Ministries exists to equip, empower, and encourage church leaders igniting a passion in thier hearts for ministry to children. We are focused on raising an awareness of the vital need to minister to children and helping leaders successfully reach kids for Christ and in turn those children will reach others for Christ.

It's hard to believe that we are already in the month of May and summer is almost here! Summer always brings great feelings of excitement and anticipation for me. One of my absolute favorite activities of the year is kids camp, which takes place in SUMMER! I was first introduced to kids camp when I was 19 years old, that's right, I never had the opportunity to attend camp as a child. I think that camp brings out a bit of the child in me and I look forward to it much like a child looks forward to it. Like a child, I look forward to the FUN and seeing old FRIENDS and making new ones. I look forward to the SNACK BAR and the TEAM CHANTS and SKITS. I look forward to the CABIN CHECKS and CAMP MEMORIES DVD. Above all of this, though, I look forward to SEEING KIDS ENCOUNTER GOD! I look forward to hearing the sound of hundreds of children SINGING FROM THE TOP OF THEIR LUNGS in worship to their Creator and Father. I look forward to the first time DECISIONS, the HEALINGS (both physical and emotional) and the OUTPOURING of the POWER of the HOLY SPIRIT on young lives. I look forward to seeing God move and change this generation of young people who will affect future generations.

I know that summer brings about many more activities and opportunities than camp, but this truly is one of my favorites. As adults, we understand the importance of taking the time out of the busyness of life that's why we attend Womens' Retreats or Men's Retreats. This doesn't mean that God doesn't move unless we go away from home, but there truly is something significant that occurs when we remove ourselves from the stresses of daily life. Children's lives are impacted in the same way when they remove themselves from the stresses of everyday life. Yes, children experience stress. A recent study showed that kids are most stressed out by school (36%);family (32%); and friends, peers, gossip and teasing (21%). Camp is a wonderful opportunity to remove kids from the things that stress them out and to allow the PRINCE OF PEACE to work in their hearts and lives!

I challenge you, it's not too late to make camp a part of your summer plans. Even if you can't take your kids to camp, you can do something to help remove them from every day life to encounter God!
